Are you dealing with anxiety and stress? Why not develop the skills to help you manage effectively at home or work. On this course you will have the opportunity to work with a group to explore the causes of stress, the effects on the body and practice solutions that work. For some people anxiety affects their daily lives, and they worry there is no answer. This course will provide strategies, and techniques to help you manage these fears and turn stress into relaxation. Why not come along to a calm environment to learn more about yourself and have fun along the way. The tutor is a specialist who has much to share, and to show you that whether at home, school, or at work, people use these well tried coping methods to great effect. Why not pamper yourself These techniques can be used for yourself, other adults and children.

This course is funded by Tees Valley Combined Authority. This course is at Sunnyfield House Community Centre, 36 Westgate, Guisborough, Redcar & Cleveland TS14 6BA. It is a safe and welcome environment.

Course aim

This course can be used to understand how to reduce your own or family's stress and anxiety and develop strategies to reduce stress in the home or at the workplace

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for a group of around 15 students studying in a live video-learning platform conference and an online digital learning environment platform from the comfort of your own home.
  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify the causes of emotional and physical stress
  • Discuss strategies for breaking the cycles which keep fears and worries going
  • Identify therapy and relaxation techniques to help with anxiety and improve your health
  • Identify the body’s reactions to stress and discuss how to help children/adults at home or school
  • Identify the professional help and support which is available

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Please bring a note pad and pen

This course is funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.
