Christmas Wreath workshop

The Christmas workshop will enable you to create your own Xmas wreath using a selection of fresh greenery, cones and berries with florist ribbon bows in red and greens, but you can bring in your own decorative materials for a more personal design and style. Once you have gained these skills and technical knowledge you will be able to make them again and again for gifts and other special occasions.

Course aim

Get into the festive spirit and learn the skills needed to create your own traditional Xmas wreath using fresh or decorative materials

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Gain the knowledge of suitable materials needed for this project
  • Learn how to attach different materials and objects to your Xmas wreath adding individual detail and style
  • Learn how to make a decorative florist bow which you can add to your wreath and continue to make them for all your Xmas wrapping
  • Work in a tidy respectful manner in a classroom environment respecting each others personal space and ideas
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when working with sharp and hazardous materials

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be able to keep a digital portfolio of your work on WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas.
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
