During this session you will learn how to arrange spring flowers and put together a floral arrangement for a mothers day gift. Learn presentation skills and wrapping techniqes, how to make a floristry bow and adornments. Suitable for everyone either, whether you are a total beginner or to refresh floristry skills. From this course you can progress on to a higher level course such as Introduction to Floristry Skills. These courses can be used to prepare you for voluntary work or paid employment.

This course is funded by Tees Valley Combined Authority. This course is at Corpus Christi RC Primary School, Cargo Fleet Lane, Middlesbrough, Cleveland TS3 8NL. It is a safe and welcome environment

Course aim

This is a short course to build up confidence in basic floristry skills. You will make a floral gift for mother's day.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for people with little spoken English

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify different stem structure and conditioning techniques.
  • Demonstrate presentation methods and bow assembling.
  • Make a good balanced arrangement using principle elements,

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • The tutor will provide all materials , All learners are required to pay £5 for the resources which you will be able to take away.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
