Christmas Wreath Workshop

This Christmas workshop will enable you to create your own xmas wreath using a beautiful selection of fresh holly, berries and foliage and florist ribbon, but you can also bring in your own decorative materials for a more personal design and style. Once you have these skills you will be able to make them again each year and for other special occasions either for yourself or as gifts.

Course aim

Take time our for yourself and get into the christmas spirit and learn the skills needed to create your own xmas wreath using fresh or decorative materials

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Select suitable materials needed for this project
  • attach different materials and objects to a christmas wreath giving it your own personal touches in style and design
  • Learn from each other when designing and creating, respect and appreciate each other differences in style and taste
  • Discover the advantages of meeting with like minded people and the positive effect on ones well being while spending a few hours creating and designing something that makes you and others happy
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when working with sharp and hazardous tools and equipment in a classroom environment

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be able to keep a digital portfolio of your work on WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas.
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
