Learn the gentle but effective movements of exercise and Tai Chi whilst seated to help strengthen muscles and increase mobility. Enjoy the peaceful - calming and also revitalising relaxation to music and meditation techniques which are specifically designed to reduce stress and alleviate tension and anxiety.

Course aim

To introduce the learner to gentle exercise and Tai Chi to help increase mobility and strengthen muscles. Learn techniques required to be able to fully relax to music and perform meditation to provide stress relief and ease tension and anxiety.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand about the energy fields both in and around the body - The Chakras.
  • Perform mobility exercises and develop Tai Chi techniques.
  • Be able to relax to music and use mindful meditation to enhance health and well being and provide relief from stress, tension and anxiety.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • Please wear comfortable - loose clothing and footwear.
