Christmas Wreath Skills

You will be given the opportunity to make a Christmas wreath to hang on your door at Christmas time. You will learn different floristry skills, such as basic wiring of materials and assembling a lovely wreath with fresh winter foliage's. You will gain increased confidence in your practical abilities and will be in a goo position to progress on to an Introduction to Floristry skills course.

This course is funded by Tees Valley Combined Authority. After completion of this course you could progress on to Introduction to Floristry Skills. This course is at The Willows, North Port Road, Portrack, Stockton on Tees TS18 2HX . It is a safe and welcome environment.

Course aim

This short course is for anyone who would like to make a beautiful Christmas door wreath and to start the process of learning basic floristry skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify seasonal foliages
  • Demonstrate basic wiring techniques used in floristry
  • Create a well balanced design using colour, and form for structure

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • The tutor will provide all materials, learners are required to pay £5 for materials. You are welcome to bring additional materials.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

This course is funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.
