Managing Stress with Children

All people, all ages, will experience stress. It is when stress becomes the main feeling and pressure in everyday life that it can become a problem. This workshop taster will explore how to reduce stress in yourself, which would begin to help you to understand how to reduce stress in your children.

Course aim

The purpose of this workshop is to explore how to help children cope with stress by considering how parents cope with stress.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • Students need a Level 1 qualification in English to join this course
  • You may wish to bring pen and paper in case you would like to make notes

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand some of the causes of stress in both adults and children
  • Begin to be able to help both yourself and your children cope with stress feelings
  • Understand that stimulus-response is not the only behaviour possible

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Pen and paper for those who would like to make notes

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
