Wellcome to - Our World

Ref: C2421179

In this Day School, we will give you the opportunity to explore how ideas, developments and perceptions of science have contributed to the development of science and human knowledge. In two sessions, we will present and discuss the representation of science and scientific ideas. Session 1 - SCIENCE FICTION explores how cinema engages with science and how it shapes us and our world. We will delve into films that engage with the development of science and technology, our growing understanding of the human body and mind, and explore our feelings about health, technology and science and how they shape us and our environment. Session 2 - Madness in 19th Century Fiction An exploration of how 19th-century novelists explored mental health issues - often being able to identify elements that the scientists (the 'doctors of psychological medicine') struggled with.
