Saturday Lecture: The Sun King Louis XIV: Absolute Monarch

Ref: C2420902

The long reign of Louis XIV (1643-1715) saw the rise of France to become the European super-power. The king's power was symbolised by war and conquest and by the creation of Versailles, the most splendid palace in Europe. But how much power did the king actually possess and what role did propaganda play in the presentation of the 'Sun King'?
