BBO Money Sorted in D2N2:Comparing Credit

Students will compare various methods of borrowing money, including identifying advantages and disadvantages, looking at interest rates and APRs, different ways of borrowing money and what credit scores mean.

Course aim

Students will compare various methods of borrowing money, including identifying their advantages and disadvantages

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify at least 2 different types of borrowing
  • Define the terms ‘interest’ and ‘APR’
  • Identify at least 1 negative consequence of not repaying a loan on time
  • Define the term ‘credit union’
  • Define the term ‘credit score’

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • a notebook and pen would be useful for the class

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
