The course will cover a range of yoga movements included the 7-Way Stretch for the term and the various yoga movements seated, standing and lying. We will work also with various yoga breathing exercises including 'Alternate Nostril Breathing', each session will finish with a guided relaxation.

Course aim

This course is suitable for beginners as well as those with experience. We will work with a range of yoga postures with the breath, a short meditation and a guided relaxation.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Independently practice a range of yoga postures seated, standing and lying.
  • Independently practice the 7-Way Stretch for the term.
  • Independently practice alternate nostril breathing.
  • Independently practice guided relaxation.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • Relevant handouts will be provided.

What else do I need to know?

  • Mats are available, but you are welcome to bring your own. A yoga block will be useful.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
