Employability Skills course is designed to support individuals to get them on jobs or further education& trainings . It takes an activity based approach to raising learner’s awareness about employment necessary skills, employer’s expectations, working environment, improve learner’s knowledge and understanding of the work place and the development of techniques required for successful independent living.

Course aim

Employability Skills course is designed to support individuals those who are out of work & furthest away from the labour market. The main aim of this course is is to get them on job or further education for successful independent living.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is suitable for those individuals who are out of work, education or any training programme & looking for jobs, want to change a job or want to get an employment by developing techniques for an independent living.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • 1.Participants will acquire skills & knowledge to live independent life.
  • 2. Participants will be able to get into work, further education or apprenticeship
  • Participants will be able to write a generic CV, cover letter and speculative letter for a job.
  • Participants will be able to tailor a CV for a specific job
  • Participants will be able to develop confidence and interview techniques

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • • Participants will be provided IAG (information Advice & guidance) to get them on jobs, further education or trainings to develop techniques for independent living.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • The main aim of this course is to get individuals on jobs & during the course the main activities will be included job search, CV writing interview techniques, application filling applying jobs using different medium.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
