Join this course and be involved in discussions, activities and art projects. Find out how Life Skills help us to adapt to changes and challenges in everyday life. Discuss how an understanding of these skills can be a positive element in day to day living. Improve decision making and problem solving skills. Explore the different ways people communicate with each other and the barriers that can prevent effective communication. Develop skills that help with interpersonal relationships. Discover more about your character including strengths and weaknesses. Listen carefully to other peoples views and opinions. Learn how different emotions affect the body in stressful situations. Be shown how to use critical and creative thinking methods to consider the themes of the course. Participate in group and individual work and illustrate ideas through practical tasks that show an understanding of the subject.

Course aim

To learn about and understand how Life Skills help us to positively deal with the challenges of everyday life.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • have improved decision making and problem solving skills.
  • have explored ways to communicate.
  • have listened to different opinions.
  • learnt about stress and other emotions.
  • used creativity in art tasks.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • Students will keep a diary recording activities and comments about each session.

  • All materials will be provided
