Urdu is a widely spoken language in the UK & 20th most spoken language in the world Practice listening and speaking in Urdu to develop confidence and ability to communicate. This course is for beginners who need some Urdu language to help in a workplace or in a social situation. If you can read Urdu you will automatically learn to read six other languages Arabic, Baluchi, Kashmiri, Pashto, Persian and Punjabi

Course aim

Urdu is 20th most spoken language in the world Practice, listening & speaking in Urdu to develop confidence and ability to communicate.course is for people who need some Urdu language to help in a workplace or in a social situation.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for improvers
  • people who already completed Urdu for absolute beginners and beginners should consider this course to become fluent in Urdu

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • You will be able to demonstrate consistently correct use of past, present and future tense in Urdu
  • You will be able to ask for information in at least 3 everyday situations
  • You will be able to Give support and advice to another person in an everyday situation

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
  • You need to complete Urdu for absolute beginners & more Urdu for beginners to enrol in this course

What can I do next?

  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
  • will be able to give support and advice to another person in an everyday situation voluntarily or a work place
