The course intends to improve student’s awareness of some useful everyday essentials skills. Sessions with a variety of activities will help students understand: Employability skills topics such as: My skills, looking for work and reading job adverts. Personal skills topics such as: Personal Identity, personal information and interact with others. Everyday life skills topic such as: Signs and symbols, directions and fire safety.

Course aim

The course aims to teach students basic skills required for daily life.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise and use vocabulary related to skills and abilities.
  • Understand how to describe myself in a positive way.
  • Develop reading skills in order to understand three simple job adverts.
  • Have begun to learn the formal language used in signs and symbols.
  • Understand how to follow and give directions.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
