Yoga for Pregnancy

We will work on a selection of yoga movements suitable for all stages of pregnancy and work too with a range of movement suitable for labour working too with both breath and sound. The tutor is able to work with backache, carpel tunnel syndrome, SPD and pelvic instability and the various symptoms of pregnancy. Each session is adapted to the needs of the individual.

Course aim

These sessions are suitable for women from 15 weeks of pregnancy. We will work on yoga movements suitable both for pregnancy and labour, the role of the breath being key.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand how to practice a range of movements suitable for pregnancy.
  • Understand how to practice a range of yoga movements and birthing positions for labour.
  • Understand how to use the breath for both pregnancy and labour.
  • Gain an understanding of mindfulness breathing meditation.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Please bring a mat and firm pillow.

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
