Kirsty will take you on a creative journey in a relaxed and supportive environment where you will have the opportunity to explore diverse approaches to creating original artworks, with a focus on summer time. We will study different approaches to creating composition, studying the work of contemporary and classic artists for inspiration, and experimenting with different mediums.
Course aim
Have fun experimenting with a variety of mediums and techniques to create exciting art works whilst learning, or improving on, drawing and painting skills.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Combine groups of objects to make dynamic compositions to work from.
- Work in experimental ways with a variety of materials, using other artist’s work as inspiration.
- Explore the themes of summer time using different styles, techniques and materials.
- Begin to develop (or expand on developing) your own style.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
What else do I need to know?
- A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
