Mindfulness Yoga 2

This course will work with yoga postures (asanas) seated, lying, standing and inverted. We will work too with the 7 Way Stretch for the term and Salute to the Sun every week. Each session will finish with pranayama (breathing exercise, meditation and yoga nidra (guided relaxation). The sessions are adapted to the needs of the individual.

Course aim

This course is suitable for those with a minimum of one to two years experience of yoga. We will work on a range of yoga postures (asanas) with the breath being the underlying ethos.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand how to practice the 7 Way Stretch for the term.
  • Understand how to practice the Salute to the Sun.
  • Understand how to practice a range of asanas with the breath.
  • Understand how to practice the Loving Kindness Meditation.
  • Gain an understanding of yoga nidra.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Yoga mat and block.

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
