Climate change is a real and it is happening fast. The aim of this course is to give students an overview of the causes, its likely impacts and some of the things we can do to slow it down and reverse it. The course aims to give students sufficient information encourage and stimulate further reading and research

Climate change is the hot topic at the moment.What is it? How did it happen? What can we do about it?
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
- Students need a level 2 qualification in English to join this course
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- explore the science behind climate change
- investigate the principle causes behind climate change
- identify the key research and reports supporting the climate change agenda
- discuss areas of human activity that can be modified to slow down climate change
- explain the difference between climate change, pollution and other environmental problems
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.
- Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
What else do I need to know?
- You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
- A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
- It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
