Poetry Appreciation: Contemporary American Poetry

Ref: C2342723

This is for anyone who enjoy reading and understanding poetry. This is an opportunity to sample the best of mainly American poetry with added information on the poets' lives and their techniques. There is something for everyone in the anthology. The anthology chosen has proved very popular in the Autumn Term and the current course members look forward to continuing interpreting, analysing, discussing and , above all, enjoying the poems. You don't have to be a regular poetry reader or know much about poetry to join in; everyone brings different life experiences to the course which effect the impact on them and their understanding of the poems - all are valid. We will read the poems, aloud (if you are happy to) and silently, before discussing them to find different interpretations and also look at the construction of the poem. I will add biographical details of the poets. This is a very friendly class where members are encouraged to voice their opinions in a relaxed atmosphere.
