Computers made Easy - Beginners Part 2

The course consists of an introduction to the basic vocabulary and terminology related to computers and word processing. Microsoft Word, the Internet, web search and email. Students will also use a range of different computer software and programs. An attempt will be made to support all students’ individual needs.

Course aim

The aim of the course is to prepare students with basic computer skills and build up their confidence in using a computer.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand the basic vocabulary and terminology related to computers and word processing.
  • Demonstrate how to use Microsoft Word to create, save and format documents.
  • Demonstrate how to use the internet to search for information.
  • Gain an understanding of how to begin to use emails.
  • Have increased my own confidence and skills in using computer technology.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
