Course aim

This is Day 2, and will be attended by participants who have completed a Day 1 (we have had two other sessions which were held on 26th April 2018 and 27th November 2019). We will dig a little deeper into Social Pedagogy.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for improvers
  • Please note that you need to have attended Day 1 already, 26th April 2018 or the one on 27th November 2019.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand theories introduced and come away with a 'low-level' plan for implementation in practice.
  • Have a grasp on background and key elements within social pedagogy, and be able to articulate some headlines to colleagues / stakeholders.
  • Understand where I can find more information / courses on Social Pedagogy.
  • See social pedagogy as a principle of life, not just practice.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • We will look at action planning at the end of the day, and the expectation would be that you are happy to take away a small and realistic 'project' that you define.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • The course is at an introductory level and feedback will be informal and when approached for by the participant.

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • WEA is scoping the possibility of a further course, this is not yet clear however.
