Students will learn how to make a variety of animals for a novelty cake it could be winnie the poo or disney theme etc

Course aim

To use a variety of methods and materials to produce animal toppers for novelty cakes, the main purpose is how to grasp the concept of modelling so as to make a variety of animals, birds etc for decorating novelty cakes and cup cakes.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • shaping and colouring
  • variety of animals
  • covering a cake
  • shaping cake
  • pricing cakes

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Students will need to bring their own materials and equipment. The cost of the duration of the course will be about£ 25 to £30 depends where the items are bought from, also a cake will be required.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
