This course is for anyone who is lacking in confidence about their abilities and the skills and qualities they have to offer in the workplace. The course covers Transferable Skills, How to find and apply for Jobs, Tips on how to write a CV and Covering Letter & how to give a good impression at interviews. No skills or experience needed.

Course aim

To help students to identify their transferable skills and the things to consider when deciding what jobs to apply for.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify at least 2 transferable skills & 2 areas for development.
  • Recognise 2 important things to consider when looking for a job.
  • Describe how to efficiently search for jobs.
  • Match skills to job descriptions.
  • Complete a CV, application form and covering letter.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
