This course will explore oral and written methods of retelling our own histories. We shall explore different narrative styles so that everyone finds a way to comfortably share their experiences and work towards creating their own folder of memories. This is an inclusive course that can be adapted to suit all levels of literacy.

Course aim

This course will explore oral and written methods of retelling our own histories. We shall explore different narrative styles so that everyone finds a way to comfortably share their experiences and work towards creating their own folder of memories.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explain different methods of sharing stories
  • Experiment with different writing styles
  • Create a booklet of work retelling stories from my life.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
