This course will provide students with the opportunity to create spreadsheets and charts in Excel.

Course aim

This course is suitable for beginners and improvers. No skills or experience is needed although you will progress at a quicker pace if you already have mouse and keyboard skills. The aim of this course is to know how to use Excel.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use simple formulas for calculating data. Create charts.
  • Format data.
  • Print a spreadsheet to display the formulae used.
  • Create charts.
  • Use axis labels and legends.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
  • A notebook and pen to make your own notes while you are learning.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Mouse and keyboard skills would help.
