Creative Craft

Over the course of 11 weeks students will try a selection of craft techniques using a varied selection of craft materials such as fabrics, threads, wool, paper, card, wire, beads, sequins, paint and especially recyclable materials to create craft items for the home or friends and family.

Course aim

This is a practical course where students can try a selection of craft techniques or develop their own personal craft skills. Particular attention and care to promote a relaxed environment to create student well-being

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for students who attend a specific centre only. For more information please call 0300 303 3464

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify at least 3 or 4 craft materials (students encouraged to use recyclable materials)
  • Demonstrate at least 2 or 3 craft techniques
  • Produce 2 or more craft items
  • Reflect and discuss art work produced either verbal or written

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
