Modern China

Ref: C2341690

In the space of a century, China has grown from a rural and agricultural society to a modern industrial and commercial power house. In the course of this change, it has experienced a series of political, and economic upheavals led by such figures as Chiang Kai-shek, Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. The aim of the course is to examine these revolutionary developments, tracing the story form the collapse of the ruling Qing dynasty in 1911 to the advent of Xi Jinping, the current ruler of the People's Republic of China.
