Music Making: history, myths and legends of the Eastern region

Together with the help of Jolly Jack the sailor we will explore the stories of St Edmunds, King Raedwald of Sutton Hoo, The Wild Man of Orford and other exciting characters. Lots of joining in, singing of songs and being a king or a dragon will ensure everyone has a chance to help make these characters come to life for a memorable journey into the history of East Anglia and beyond.

Course aim

Come and join us on a journey through time and help bring the stories of kings, dragons and saints come to life through theatre, music and dance.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Watch and respond to the performance stimuli
  • Listen to historic stories
  • Contribute to story telling
  • Join in with new songs
  • Help create the performance setting

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
