By the end of the course you will have had an introduction to: The basic concept behind treating `like for like` The history behind the use of the minimum dose The difference between acute and chronic prescribing An outline of some of the most widely used remedies, how they are made and what they are used for and learn how to unblock the healing power within our well-known plants such as Calendula (Marigold), Arnica (Mountain Daisy), Hypericum (St John’s Wort). Study the scope of each plant’s healing qualities.

Course aim

Those wishing to learn about this holistic therapy,the basic principles we use together with the most commonly used remedies. Introduction is designed to begin your journey into the world of the homoeopathic remedies, source materials and uses.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in Complementary Therapies and learning about health and wellbeing using Homoeopathic Remedies to treat simple, acute illnesses.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify two of the main Principles behind Homoeopathic prescribing
  • Gain an understanding of two of the most commonly used Plant Remedies
  • begin to differentiate between an Acute or a Chronic Illness

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • There will be a Power Point delivery and each student will get a Handbook based on this. Each student will be encouraged to join in to the group discussions and give their own experience of Health and Wellbeing. A range of resources will be available and the course will finish with a Quiz

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • The tutor will be observing student interactions and gauging learning and understanding by initiating a group discussion together with an informal quiz.

What else do I need to know?

  • A Handbook will be supplied but students are encouraged to bring writing materials together with blank paper and a file.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • The tutor has information about the main regulatory bodies in the world of Homoeopathy and the training course providers for those wishing to pursue a full practitioner training. Other short courses may be available locally.
