Day School: Renaissance Art in Venetian Spaces

Ref: C2226834

The study day will introduce themes and contexts of Renaissance art and architecture in that most serene republic of Venice. We will embark on a visual journey through Venetian architectural and urban spaces and explore the ways in which Renaissance masterpieces were situated within, and connected to, their physical contexts. From Bellini’s private Madonnas to Tintoretto’s public feasts – we will see how the works made for different spaces communicated a range of competing and sometimes divisive messages to their diverse audiences.
