Geological Processes that Shaped our Planet

Ref: C2226826

We live in a rare place - a planet that supports life. This course provides a fascinating insight into what makes our Earth what it is. Why its habitable, why we have volcanoes and earthquakes, what is a tsunami, how you build mountains and wear them down again and why the oceans are so important to life on Earth. The course is supported with a wealth of real rocks and minerals which are used in simple and guided group activities to explain and explore all the concepts.

Course aim

To provide an overview and explanation of everything on Earth! This is the geological story behind what makes mountains, why oceans are so important, volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and essentially why we are a habitable planet.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explain why oceans are so important to Earth and how they have changed over millions of years

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
