The course will enable students to build their confidence in English across all fours skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. The course will focus on essential vocabulary and grammatical structures to cope with the workplace and everyday situations such as going to the doctor or dentist, shopping or going to the cinema.

Course aim

To build skills in English for the workplace and everyday situations.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • You will need to talk to a member of staff and do a short activity to make sure the course is right for you. For more information and to book an appointment please call 0300 303 3464

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use new vocabulary to help you in the workplace and every day situations.
  • Identify and use grammatical structures in context, which will help you in the workplace and every day situations
  • Discuss what topics you have covered in your course.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
