A fun, inspiring, creative course to support confidence building, decision making, improved relationships with yourself and others. Develop effective communication skills, empower yourself and learn how to apply these skills creativity in all aspects of life. A safe, relaxed environment to explore your ideas, emotions and feelings.

Course aim

A course in using mindfulness and creativity to raise confidence, self awareness and self esteem. The course will help you develop and apply creative problem solving skills and emotional resilience to support health, wellbeing and employability.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course will support students who are or have already attended the mentoring, facilitating adults and helping in schools courses

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • 1. Explore and evidence through discussion the connection between emotional well-being and resilience
  • 2. Use mindfulness and creativity in three practical activities
  • 3. Demonstrate effective understanding of differing styles of communication through discussion
  • 4. Demonstrate reflective problem solving by providing a personal log or journal

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
