This course will take a close look at a selection of artworks held in museums and galleries in the UK, dividing the country in to 10 regions. We will discuss the artists and the specific work chosen, and where these works can be found in the UK.

Course aim

To provide an overview of some of the art held in museums and galleries in the UK, and where these works can be found. We will look closely at the works and the artists involved.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify a range of artists and works held in British collections.
  • Discuss and analyse works by individual artists.
  • Choose works from specific galleries and museums to visit in the future.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
