To offer learners practical support & encouragement, using simple techniques, a step by step approach to start to question and change their outlook on life and to have a more positive attitude.Create plans for the future and ways in which to look after themselves both physically and mentally

Course aim

To Teach you ways to control your mood, reduce stress and anxiety by taking a step by step approach, to have a more positive attitude and grow in confidence - to help you feel up instead of down.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify which thoughts and actions influence feelings and learn to control them.
  • Ways in which to change negative thoughts to positive thoughts
  • What actions I need to take to grow in confidence

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • Home work is an essential part of the course this involves filling in a mood diary

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • This could be going on a course to improve yourself further or looking for the first steps into employment you would wish to pursue
