Paint Box Fun

Learn new creative skills, techniques and experiment in step-by-step exercises in a painting group and gain inspiration from the world around you with playful creativity. Encouragement is given to develop your own style with confidence. This session will focus on the use of colour. All aspiring artists are welcome, from the experienced artist to the beginner. Please bring your own painting equipment in water-based media.

Course aim

To awaken the creative spirit in each individual artist with subject matter drawn from the changing seasons.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • Suitable for any level of artistic ability, from the experienced artist, the intermediate and the complete beginner.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To be able to use your creative imagination in painting.
  • To be able to compose from a painting from nature
  • To be able to experiment with colour
  • To be able to engage with inspiration in order to follow an artistic line of thought.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Teaching methods used will be through demonstrations, mini talks, question and answers and one-to-one tuition and supportive guidance.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • Feedback will be given throughout the session on a one-one basis.

What else do I need to know?

  • Painting equipment in water-based media-watercolour pigments, gouache, inks or acrylic paint. Paper,(WATERCOLOUR paper, 140lb, NOT surface), brushes, water container, palette, pencils, sharpener & rubber. See www.tianamarie.co.uk/blog for more info.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre-course work is necessary. You may wish to bring some images of artistic inspiration with you, for your personal study. However, visual reference will be provided by the tutor for most of the sessions
