Have you ever wondered how your regional and local area developed over time? Take a look at how people lived in bygone times, their industries, buildings and work. Come along to this friendly group to listen and participate in the past histories of the regional and local areas and take a 'walk through time'

Course aim

To develop knowledge and understanding about the history of the regional and local region

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Give 3 historical facts about the development of any area we cover
  • Give two facts about any historical finds in the regional and local area
  • Complete historical quizzes on every topic we cover
  • Give 2 facts about the social conditions of any of the areas covered

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Paper and pen to make notes and a file for your work

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
