Art Workshop

A calm course which will gently demonstrate art techniques which are differentiated specifically to individual need and ability. The tutor has experience working with people with physical and mental challenges following stroke , injury or congenital diagnosis. Initially the workshop will involve marbling which is very intereractive but flexible as a meduim and will be inclusive to all learners, it is a fun and colourful activity . Further activities to promote learning as well as manual dexterity and thought processes will be offered and progression to a drawing activity with pencil and charcoal will be available .

Course aim

Promotes well being through Art therapy, encourages hand and eye co ordination and muscle memory where possible and provides opportunity for self expression through art .

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • The course is specifically tailored to the needs of those attending.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • You will be able to express yourself through colou and pattern by creating you own individually marbled art work.
  • You will be able to express your interests for further work and discuss these possibilities with your group tutor and carers
  • You may be able to produce a charcoal drawing following a demonstration of technique
  • You will be able to learn from the work of others interact with other learners to share your work and experiences on the workshop

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Your tutor will help you to learn outside of the workshop by givingyou advise if you would like this.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
