Britain from 55BC to AD1066

Ref: C3743945

This day school will examine the impact of Rome before and after the Conquest; discuss what lasting impact being part of the Roman Empire had; review the evidence of what happened in the so-called Dark Ages and whether a champion such as Arthur existed to resist the spread of the Anglo- Saxons; review the impact of the arrival of the Vikings and the lead up to the Norman invasion. Aside from lectures there will be ample opportunity to handle artifacts and a practical session on pottery identification.
