Course aim

This is a Course In Unlearning - Eh? I know it sounds a little whacky. But think about this for a second - the opposite to confidence is self doubt, fear, self-criticism, fear of failure, loss and lack, yes? These are the ‘norm’ let's change it!

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand my negative self talk and the impact of such on my confidence
  • Learn to use a variety of practical techniques & tools to embed my learning in my real life & imporve my confidence
  • List my strengths and how to bring these out when my confidence is low

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • There will be a workbook that is completed as we go through the sessions to support your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • We will show you how to do a self esteem journal - please buy an A5 hardback notebook (plain paper is better) - it can have any front design you like or you can decorate yourself.
