The Dutch Golden Age

Ref: C3743197

In this day school we shall concentrate on three giants of the 16/17th century who demonstrate the impact that social and religious history have on their work. Vermeer whose quiet works hide a lot of information about the world around him, the sea-faring that expanded the Dutch world and income; Rembrandt, whose life was a roller-coaster ride from popularity and fortune, to changes in taste which led to bankruptcy and solitude; and the most sought after of them all, Rubens the beloved of princes, the courtier, traveller, diplomat and also the trend-setter for years to come.
