Exploring Poetry - The Search for Meaning

Ref: C3742904

What’s it all for? Why am I here? Is there something more? The search for meaning, for depth, for a belief in something bigger than ourselves, is as old as humanity itself. Poetry, more than any other medium perhaps, can best express the inexpressible, and so is often employed in the search for, and articulation of, a spiritual element in our lives. We shall read, discuss and explore together a wide range of poems on this theme. There are no right answers, but sharing poetry with others can awaken meanings, ideas and interpretations that we may never have reached by ourselves. We shall read poems by William Wordsworth, Philip Larkin, Mary Oliver and many more; and the course is equally suitable for people of any faith and none, and people who are familiar with poetry and those who are not.
