The Bourbons

Ref: C3742829

The Bourbons are one of the most important ruling houses of Europe. Of French origin, they descend from Louis I, Duke of Bourbon, a grandson of King Louis IX (1226-1270). They have provided monarchs for France, Spain and a number of Italian states. During the seven sessions of the course we will consider the origins of the House of Bourbon, the French kings from Henry IV - Charles X and Louis-Philippe and the Spanish monarchs from King Philip V - Philip IV. We will also look at the Bourbon monarchs of The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Parma, Etruria and Lucca.
