Criminal Psychology

Ref: C3742785

We will explore the contribution Psychology has made to our understanding and treatment of criminal behaviour. We’ll consider factors such as the effectiveness of punishment, eyewitness testimony and how Psychologists understand the mind of the criminal. • The Mind of the Criminal: How has Psychology helped criminologists understand the thinking of criminals? The mind of a psychopath? • Crime and Punishment: Is it effective or not? If not, what on earth is to be done? What strategies, if any, do work? • Eyewitness Testimony: What have psychologists discovered about whether people remember accurately or not? If not, what is a better way to gather evidence? No prior knowledge is required, this is a general-level course.
