This course gives students the opportunity to experiment with a range of materials and complete a number of exciting projects in art including landscape painting, portraiture and a personal project. In a highly supportive environment, students are given practical advice on colour mixing; the use of tone to create three dimensions and encouraged to explore a wide range of approaches in art so that they may find their own individual style.
Course aim
To provide the opportunity for a wide range of adults, including those who cannot normally get access to classes, to complete a number of exciting projects in drawing and painting.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Complete a finished landscape painting or design.
- Complete a personal project such as still-life, poster or an abstract design.
- Complete a finished portrait painting or design.
- Experiment confidently with art techniques for enjoyment.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
What else do I need to know?
- A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
