Explore some of the many notable gardens of the South East with Cherrill Sands who is a well known and respected Garden Historian. The session will give you a keen insight into the exceptional work of garden designer and plantswoman , Gertrude Jekyll and her working partnership with Edward Lutyens.

Course aim

This session will explore some of the many notable gardens of the South East.

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Name three notable gardens in the South East
  • Give one example of partnership work of Gertrude Jekyll and Edward Lutyens
  • Discuss the importance of Gertrude Jekyll as a garden designer

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
