This course will provide an illustrated introduction to some of the main sites of ancient Egypt starting with the amazing Old Kingdom tombs of Saqqara together with the pyramids of the site and the later Apis bull cemetery, Subsequent sessions take us to New Kingdom Thebes (modern day Luxor) and we visit the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri discussing its unusual architecture and decoration, the workers village at Deir el-Medina with both housing and tombs and fascinating records of daily life, and finally the Valley of the Kings including the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Course aim
A virtual tour of some of the most fascinating sites of ancient Egypt including Saqqara, the workers village at Deir el-Medina, Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el-Bahri and the Valley of the Kings.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Describe an ancient Egyptian tomb scene
- Explain what is meant by the Divine Birth scene at Deir el-Bahri
- Identify at least three artefacts from the tomb of Tutankhamun
How will I be taught?
- The day will consist of well-illustrated presentations with lots of chance for interaction
