Students will learn about personal confidence and self awareness, how to identify stress triggers and techniques to reduce stress in their lives. They will also look at progression routes which can have a positive impact on their lives.

Course aim

The aim of the course is to learn about personal confidence and self awareness with a view to making positive life decisions.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre
  • This course is perfect for those who have lost their confidence due to a change in circumstance e.g. job loss, personal problems.... This course will enable you to find your voice and be heard.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify personal confidence levels in social situations.
  • Identify triggers for stress and apply techniques to reduce it.
  • Set 2 short term goals and action plans.
  • Identify progression routes.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • You could progress onto voluntary work or employment.
