Course aim

To increase student confidence whilst learning new skills in a small focused group. To build confidence in the community and develop mindful techniques into everyday life

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • does require some mobility

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • describe how photography can help develop a more mindful approach to life
  • demonstrate how to develop a critical eye in photography
  • produce an image
  • attend as many sessions as possible on time and engage for the full 2 hours

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • you will save your images to your digital camera / phone and be able to monitor your progress with tutor feedback

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • mobile phone with camera facility or digital camera batteries for camera and / or fully charged storage space on your digital camera / phone to hold enough images for the session suitable footwear / clothing for inclement weather

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
